What is Prad's Posh Pet Care?
"Addy is wonderful. She takes care of our dogs at the last minute and they love the comfortable environment. Pearl is always relaxed around her and is excited to occasionally see and play with Addy's dog, Howdy."
Rena L., Proud Owner of Pearl and Clutch
Anyone I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with will tell you that I am very open about the fact that I've always liked animals more than people.
It may sound harsh to some, but only those who have never truly experienced the amazing impact animals can have on us, especially our pets.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to work with animals, but I also wanted to be an astronaut, a model, a tightrope walker, a party planner and one day, a wife and mom. I've been extremely fortunate to be able to accomplish many of those childhood aspirations, and though I'm still working on tightrope walking and the astronaut gig, my heart always takes me back to my first love of animals.
As a teen, I was fortunate to meet and learn from dog training expert, Amy Ammen, when she used to hold classes at the local Boys and Girls Club that I attended. Then I volunteered time at the Humane Society, became a member of the Zoological Society and spent countless hours at the Milwaukee County Zoo just visiting and learning from my "other friends".
When I began taking college courses, there was no doubt I was going to study natural sciences, with the hope of pursuing my life long dream of becomming a zoologist and traveling around the world, most notably to Africa to study these amazing animals in thier natural habitats.
However, after working in pet supply stores and vet clinics, I learned that my heart is bigger than my head, and I just couldn't get past the personal detachment that is vital to a medical professional (of any kind) when dealing with delicate issues of animal care, and the "circle of life".
My husband still lovingly laughs at me when I attempt to watch Animal Planet and I have an "emotional moment" when a lion takes down a zebra. He says, "Addy, you know that's how nature works babe." And although I know it through and through, I still can't help but feel sorrowful for any animal that's in pain-or just being mauled.
I've always said the perfect job for me would be to become the official hugger and snuggler of baby animals (And as far as I know, that job hasn't been created yet, or whoever has it is smart enough to keep it secret.)
So I went back to my childhood list of dream jobs and began pursuing those things. I was fortunate to be able to work in the talent industry, working as a model and actor and then later, helping to manage and execute fantastic things like fashionshows, photoshoots, and commercials. I was also fortunate to work in marketing and event planning as well. Though through it all, my first priority was always my family-my husband, kids and pets.
Any working parent can tell you that juggling work with children and the neverending to-do list they come with, in conjunction with trying to manage a "balanced" work and home life (spouses, school, sports, pets, doctors, vets, special events travel, etc) while still maintaining normal levels of sanity... is virtually impossible. While it can be done, it definitely requires teamwork and the occasional helping hand.
That is why I decided to start "Prad's Posh Pet Care and Dog Walking". I know that if you took the time to read this, you probably love animals just as much as I do and there's not much you wouldn't do for your Pets. I can guarantee that your Pet and your home will be treated with the utmost care and respect.
So what's with the name?
Well, my first name is Adrianne and my name has been botched my entire life. It was very rare that anyone ever pronounced my name correctly the first time around. So I was given nicknames like "Addy"
(or "wombat") Now my last name is Pradarelli, and marketing 101 tells us that typically if a name is longer than 2 syllables, it doesn't stick in our minds as well, and my full name comes in around 7 syllables-that's if it's being pronounced correctly!
While my previous love and knowledge of the fashion industry intially prompted me to try "Prada's Posh Pet Care" because it definitely had a ring to it, I was quickly reminded that I do not want to have any conflict over naming rights with my fellow Italian's, I am loving their fall line by the way!
My husband's nickname was "Prad", given to him by the Airmen he served with in the Air National Guard. So I thought Prad worked perfectly, and here we are today!
No matter how you pronounce it though, there's no mistaking my love for animals and my personal promise to you to supply your Pet's with loving care just like you would.
I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you and your fantastic Pets!
